RE Services Launches "Cans for Habitat"
RE
Services LLC, a regional vending foodservice operation, now a Canteen franchise,
headquartered in LaFayette, Georgia, is giving its clients a new reason to choose
cans for their cold drink vending machines. RE Services is partnering with The
Aluminum Association in its Aluminum Cans Build Habitat for Humanity Homes (ACBHHH)
national aluminum can recycling program.
RE Services is promoting the
collection of empty soda cans at selected locations. These cans are then recycled
and money earned from recycling is donated to Habitat for Humanity affiliates
for local house construction.
"The vending industry and vending
companies in particular, trend to assume a low profile in the companies and communities
they serve," RE Services president Stan Ledbetter; says. "But we feel
a strong obligation to be good citizens. By promoting the recycling of the very
soda cans we sell, we are helping build houses for families in need in their communities."
Two RE Services clients are part of this launch: carpet and fiber manufacturers
Mohawk Industries and SI Corporation, formerly Synthetic Industries. ACBHHH assisted
RE Services and its clients in the program launch by providing collection bins,
point-of-purchase materials, other promotional materials, and helping arrange
local publicity for plant collection.
Mr. Ledbetter says he is delighted
to offer this opportunity to his clients. "Through ACBHHH we can bring our
customers a real-life, everyday, meaningful way to pitch in and help deserving
families. Not everyone can swing a hammer-or write a big check-to help Habitat
for Humanity. But dropping a soda can in your lunchroom bin, that's something
we all can do."
